At that point, we moved to adoption. Our daughter, Lindsey, was born less than nine months after our initial call to our attorney at the local hospital. Our son, Zachary, arrived four years later, also at our local hospital. They are each miracles, ours in every way. As Lindsey says, "God put me in someone else's tummy for Mommy and Daddy."

HELEN DUTTON, Fertility Coach

In 1992, my husband and I decided to have a baby. We had successful, busy careers, had traveled and felt it was time for children. We took a wonderful vacation to the beach (with no birth control!) and started down the path of becoming parents. We didn't know it would take 5 years! During the early stages of infertility diagnosis, we discovered a tumor. Surgery removed the growth and confirmed the diagnosis of borderline malignant ovarian cancer.

Once we cleared that hurdle, we were told that the best thing for my health was to get pregnant. No pressure! We continued down the infertility path to two IVF cycles. After the second cycle failed, we were told, "There's really not much sense in trying again."
